Preview

The Melbourne Stars women’s team registered their first win of the season against a very experienced Perth Scorchers side, and now will take on the Sydney Sixers women’s team at the same venue. Sydney Sixers who played against the Melbourne Renegades at the same venue also registered a win against their opponents. Both the Melbourne Stars and Sydney Sixers come into the game on the back of a win.

Melbourne stars would feel much relieved after winning their first game this season, they were put in to bat first by the Perth Scorchers team. Lizelle Lee scored an unbeaten 103 runs off 65 balls while none of her partners could get going from the other end. Melbourne stars managed to score 155 runs off their full quota of overs and then restricted the Perth Scorchers to 135 runs winning the game by 20 runs.

Sydney Sixers opted to bowl first and restricted the Melbourne Renegades to a below-par total of 120 runs. Marizanne Kapp, Dane van Niekerk, and Ashleigh Gardner picked up two wickets apiece. Van Niekerk was also responsible for affecting a runout. In the chase, the Sydney Sixers lost six wickets but the presence of well set Ellyse Perry who scored an unbeaten 45 off 50 balls saw them through with five balls to spare
