Beth Mooney’s unbeaten 94* guides Australia to 162/5

The Australian openers Georgia Voll and wicket-keeper batter Beth Mooney got their side off to another impressive start with a 56-run opening partnership after skipper Tahlia McGrath won the toss and opted to bat first at her home ground Adelaide Oval. Alice Capsey broke the threatening opening stand by removing Georgia Voll (23 off 21 balls) in the 8th over of the innings to provide the first breakthrough for England.

Decent partnerships throughout the innings took the home side to a competitive total of 162/5 in their quota of 20 overs. Wicket-keeper batter Beth Mooney (94* off 63 balls) carried her bat throughout the innings and was just 6 runs short of her well-deserved century. Her knock included 10 boundaries. Charlie Dean (4-0-21-1), Linsey Smith (4-0-30-1), Alice Capsey (3-0-23-1), Sophie Ecclestone (4-0-37-1), and Freya Kemp (2-0-20-1) picked up a wicket each with the ball for England.
