Smith quickly became a regular in Berkshire’s team and took her maiden five-fer the following season in a match against Somerset. In the 2015 Women’s County Championship, she was her side’s leading wicket-taker.
She was part of the 2018 Women’s T20 World Cup, making her debut against Bangladesh. She ended up with bowling figures of 1/17 in four overs. Having won the Women’s Cricket Super League with the Vipers in 2016, Smith went on to play for the runners-up in the next two seasons: for the Vipers in 2017 and for Lightning in 2018.
In 2019, she was awarded a rookie contract from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). She was also part of England’s tour of India and Sri Lanka. In the three-match T20I series against India, she picked up five wickets and took four wickets in the T20I series against Sri Lanka. Later on, she signed a contract with the Melbourne Stars in the Women’s Big Bash League for the 2021-22 season.
The left-arm spinner is known for her consistency and reliability as a bowler. She continues to grow, having played about 11 matches so far and picking up 14 wickets.
