Brief History of Norway Women’s National Cricket Team
The Norway national women’s cricket team represents the country in international women’s cricket. With the ICC granting full Women’s Twenty20 International (WT20I) status to all its members in April 2018, resulting in all Twenty20 matches, since 1 July 2018, featuring Norway and other ICC members have held the prestigious WT20I status.
Historical Highlights – Norway Women’s National Cricket Team
The team made their WT20I debut in the 2019 France women’s T20I Quadrangular series, held in Nantes during July and August 2019. Their debut match took place against Austria at Parc du Grand Blottereau, Nantes, on 31 July 2019. Norway opted to bat first against Austria, finishing with 120/9 in their allotted 20 overs. Mutaiba Ansar top-scored for Norway with an unbeaten 41 runs, in response, Austria faced similar challenges in chasing the target and were bowled out for 104 runs in 19.3 overs. Farial Zia Safdar shined with the ball for Norway, taking 3 wickets for just 10 runs, Norway won the match by 16 runs.
