In April 2018, the International Cricket Council (ICC) granted Women’s Twenty20 International (WT20I) status to all its members. Consequently, all Twenty20 matches played between the Isle of Man and other ICC members since 1 July 2018 have been recognized as full WT20I matches.
The Isle of Man Cricket Association formed its first women’s national team in November 2020. They played their inaugural WT20I against Norway at Desert Springs Cricket Ground in Almería, Spain, on 12 November 2022. The team successfully chased a target of 47 in just 4.3 overs to register a 10-wicket win. This match was part of the 2022 Spain Women’s Pentangular Series, which also included the host nation, Italy, and Sweden. During this series, all-rounder Lucy Barnett scored the first WT20I half-century by an Isle of Man player, making 64 from 64 balls against Italy, though the team finished the competition in fourth place.
In July 2023, the Isle of Man women’s team swept a three-match bilateral series against Austria. The following month, they won the 2023 Women’s Continental Cup at Moara Vlasiei Cricket Ground in Romania; competing against Romania, Malta, and Greece, the Isle of Man went unbeaten, finishing top of the group stage before defeating Greece by nine wickets in the final.
