Bio:

Fran Jonas is just a 20-year-old slow left-arm orthodox spinner who made headlines by performing exceptionally at a tender age. She made her ODI debut on February 23, 2021, against England during the England women’s tour of New Zealand in Christchurch. While in T20 Internationals, she played her first match on July 30, 2022, against South Africa during the Commonwealth Games Women’s Cricket Competition in Birmingham.

Jonas became the youngest player to receive a development contract with the New Zealand women’s cricket team. After that, she was named in New Zealand’s team for the 2022 Women’s Cricket World Cup in New Zealand. In domestic matches, she made her debut for the Auckland Hearts in the 2019-20 Hallyburton Johnstone Shield, where she took three wickets in the final to beat the Northern Spirit and win the Championship. At one time, she was the fourth-highest wicket-taker in the 2020-21 season of the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield. Jonas was named in the New Zealand Under-19 squad for the first-ever ICC Women’s Under-19 World Cup in South Africa, but unfortunately, she ruled out of the tournament due to a calf injury. She was also part of the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, where the New Zealand team claimed the Bronze Medal.

While performing exceptionally for the New Zealand women’s team at a very young age, Jonas also played in domestic leagues for the Auckland Women and Trinbago Knight Riders Women in the Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL).
