Electing to set a total, Greece Women struggled to find early fluent strokeplay against a tight Norwegian attack. Openers Adamantia Makri (4 off 13) and Maria Polimeri (14 off 24) forged a cautious 15-run stand before Vidya Viyala castled Makri in the fourth over at 15/1. Disastrous news followed for Greece as captain Aggeliki Savvani was run out for a four-ball duck by Viyala, leaving the side at 22/2. Soon after, keeper Bijeyata Kumari caught Polimeri off Mirab Razwan’s bowling at 29/3 in the eighth over.

Lydia Katsimari (2 off 6) fell next to Lopamudra, bowled at 46/4, and Sofia-nefeli Georgota (7 off 7) was run out by Viyala at 64/5 in the 13th over. Aggeliki-ioanna Argyropoulou anchored the mid-to-late overs with a resilient, unbeaten 37 off 41 balls (3 fours). She shared an unbroken, innings-closing 45-run partnership for the sixth wicket with Maria-afroditi Vervitsioti (21* off 28, 1 four). Aided by 24 extras (16 wides, 3 no-balls, 4 leg byes, 1 bye), Greece Women dragged themselves to 109/5 in their 20 overs.

Norway’s collective bowling discipline kept the run rate in check throughout. Vidya Viyala (1/13 in 3 overs), Lopamudra (1/13 in 2 overs), and skipper Mirab Razwan (1/18 in 2 overs) took a wicket apiece. Alina Aslam maintained superb economy (0/10 in 3 overs), while Anushka Gorad (0/21 in 4 overs), Ramya Immadi (0/19 in 4 overs), and Lizzie Stanfergin (0/10 in 2 overs) kept the boundaries to a minimum.

Chasing 110 for victory, Norway Women stumbled early during the powerplay. Sofia-nefeli Georgota made quick breakthroughs, catching Anushka Gorad off Parisi-mesimeri for a 7-ball duck at 9/1 and taking a return catch to send back keeper Bijeyata Kumari (11 off 17) at 20/2 in the 6th over.

Number three batter Ayesha Hasan then took control of the chase. She first stabilized the innings with Ramya Immadi (5 off 14) in a 30-run third-wicket partnership before Immadi was caught by Kourkoulou off Aggeliki Savvani at 50/3. Hasan was then joined by Shangeerthana Raveendrakumar, and the pair put the match beyond Greece’s reach with a decisive 52-run stand for the fourth wicket. Raveendrakumar played a brisk knock of 24 off 23 balls (1 four) before being bowled by Lydia Katsimari at 102/4 in the 17th over.

Hasan remained rock-solid until the end, finishing on an unbeaten 45 off 46 balls (3 fours). Alongside Vidya Viyala (2* off 5), Hasan steered Norway Women past the target to 110/4 in 18 overs, claiming a dominant 6-wicket win with 12 balls to spare. Norway’s effort was further assisted by 23 extras (18 wides, 4 no-balls, 1 leg bye) conceded by the opposition.

For Greece Women, Sofia-nefeli Georgota was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/23 in 4 overs. Captain Aggeliki Savvani (1/30 in 4 overs) and Lydia Katsimari (1/21 in 2 overs) grabbed a wicket each, while Adamantia Makri delivered an exceptionally tight opening spell of 0/6 in 4 overs. Maria-afroditi Vervitsioti (0/17 in 3 overs) and Alekskcandra Kourkoulou (0/12 in 1 over) rounded out the bowling attack as Norway sealed an important group victory.
