Jess Kerr is a right-arm medium pacer who made her ODI debut on January 27, 2020, against South African during a home series in Auckland. She was unable to showcase her class and got out on the first ball of her international career. After this unfortunate start, she made her T20 International debut on March 29, 2024, against England during the England women’s tour of New Zealand in Wellington.

Cricket runs in the family, with her mother Jo and father Robbie having played cricket at the domestic level representing Wellington. Her younger sister Amelia is a world-class cricketer. Her grandfather Bruce Murray also represented New Zealand in Test cricket, and her cousin Cilla Duncan played football at the international level for New Zealand. Jess played her first ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Australia when she received her maiden call-up. After that, she was awarded a central contract by New Zealand Cricket before the 2020-21 season. Kerr was also named in New Zealand’s team for the 2022 Women’s Cricket World Cup in New Zealand. She was part of the squad when New Zealand won the bronze medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Jess has played for various teams in different domestic leagues. She has represented the Brisbane Heat Women, London Spirit Women, Wellington Women, and Sydney Sixers, playing her role in every team’s success.
