Bio:
Madeline Green is an impactful batter in the New Zealand women’s team. She made her T20 International debut at the age of 19 on February 1, 2012, against Australia during the New Zealand women’s tour of Australia in Sydney, scoring crucial 14 runs in 18 balls in a low-scoring thriller, helping New Zealand win the match by 6 wickets. After that, she made her ODI international debut on February 26, 2014, against the West Indies during the West Indies tour of New Zealand in Lincoln, years after her T20 International debut.
Green is a true all-rounder who can bat, bowl as an off-spinner, and field efficiently. In her initial international career days, she was unable to showcase her class as a batter. However, after six years, she made her mark by scoring a 62-ball century against Ireland in Dublin, where New Zealand registered a record win of 346 runs. Green plays a key role in supporting the middle order of the New Zealand batting lineup. She provided quality batting during the 2022 Women’s World Cup and the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
In the 2017/18 season, Green captained the Auckland Hearts and won the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield. In the same year, she was named Batter of the Year for the Auckland Hearts. After that, she moved to the Wellington Blaze and in the 2021/22 season Green took on the captaincy of the Blaze, leading the side to the Super Smash title by winning all eleven matches to lift the trophy. Green has also played for various teams in domestic leagues like Auckland Women, Perth Scorchers Women, and Welsh Fire Women.
