Marizanne Kapp stands as a formidable force in South African cricket, renowned as one of the finest all-rounders in the women’s game. She has been a pillar of support for the South African national team across all formats, demonstrating her abilities in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is.

Kapp embarked on her international cricket journey with the South African Women’s team, marking her debut in Women’s One Day Internationals against Australia in 2009. Her outstanding talent came to the fore when she notched up her maiden century in this format against Pakistan in 2013. She recently joined the elite ranks as the fifth player to surpass the milestone of scoring 2500 runs and claiming 100 wickets in WODIs. Kapp’s bowling ability was further showcased in the ICC World Cup, where she delivered a memorable five-wicket haul against England in the 12th match.

In June 2009, Kapp made her debut in Women’s T20 International (WT20I) cricket, representing South Africa against Australia at Taunton. This marked the inception of her journey into the fast-paced and dynamic realm of T20 cricket. Notably, she achieved a remarkable feat against Bangladesh in 2013, becoming the first-ever South African player to secure a hat-trick and the third player overall. Additionally, Kapp claimed a four-wicket haul against Bangladesh in 2014 in this format.

A vital component of the experienced core players for the Delhi Capitals in the Women’s Premier League (WPL), Kapp leads their bowling attack with finesse. She shone in the inaugural season of the WPL, securing a fifer against her name. She secured a hat-trick against the Melbourne Stars in the 2019 Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) while playing for the Sydney Sixers. In the seventh season of the WBBL, representing the Perth Scorchers, she received the accolade of Player of the Final.

Kapp made her Test debut for South Africa against India in 2014, leaving a mark by scoring a century. Her multifaceted skills and determination continue to elevate her status as one of the most influential figures in women’s cricket.
