Brief History of Lesotho Women’s National Cricket Team
The Lesotho women’s national cricket team represents the country of Lesotho in international women’s cricket matches. In April 2018, the International Cricket Council (ICC) granted full Women’s Twenty20 International (WT20I) status to all its members; as a result, all T20 matches played between Lesotho and other ICC members since 1 July 2018 have been recognized as WT20Is.
Historical highlights – Lesotho Women’s National Cricket Team
Lesotho’s first WT20I matches were part of the Botswana 7s tournament in August 2018. They faced Botswana at the Botswana Cricket Association Oval 1 in Gaborone on 20 August 2018. Lesotho finished at the bottom of the table, losing all five group matches and the fifth place play-off against Malawi by a margin of nine wickets.

1) 2018 Botswana 7s Tournament:
Lesotho participated in this tournament as their debut in WT20I matches. They faced the hosts’ Botswana, Namibia, Sierra Leone, Mozambique, Malawi, and Zambia, but unfortunately lost all their group matches. In the fifth-place play-off, they were defeated by Malawi, finishing last in the tournament.
2) 2023 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier:
Placed in Division Two, Lesotho finished last in Group A and could not qualify further for the play-offs.
