Bio:

Shamilia Connell, is a Barbadian cricketer who brings a unique blend of power, personality, and passion to the West Indies team. Standing tall, her cricketing journey began in primary school, but track and field initially captured her interest. A Barbadian coach spotted her potential and convinced her to return to cricket – a decision that would change her life.

Shamilia’s international debut arrived in September 2014, bowling her first delivery in a T20I match against New Zealand. A few months later, she put on the maroon West Indies jersey for her ODI debut against Australia. Although she had to wait a bit to claim her first wicket in international cricket, her determination paid off in October 2015 during an ODI series against Pakistan. Here, she not only claimed her first wicket but emerged as the leading wicket-taker for her team, with a stellar performance of 6 wickets, including a remarkable 3/32 in the fourth ODI.

This was just the beginning for Shamilia. In 2016, she was part of the history-making West Indies team that clinched their first-ever World Twenty20 title in India. Featuring in all matches of the tournament, Shamilia’s bowling style, often compared to the legendary Joel Garner, proved to be a valuable asset.
