Bio:

Stafanie Taylor is a former captain of the West Indies Women’s team and with inspirational outings has built a legendary stature. Stafanie’s name is renowned in the cricketing world as synonymous with ‘West Indies Women’s Cricket’. She has played over 250 international matches in her career since her debut in 2008. She made her ODI international debut at just 17 years old, on June 24, 2008, against Ireland during the West Indies women’s tour of Ireland in Dublin. Then, just two days later, she made her T20 international debut on June 27, 2008, against Ireland in Dublin, where she played an extraordinary inning, scoring 90 runs off just 49 balls, helping the West Indies win the match by 75 runs.

Taylor was counted on as a key player for the West Indies at just 17 and became the youngest woman to reach 1000 ODI runs at 19. During the 2009 Women’s Cricket World Cup, Taylor was the best performer from the West Indies. In October 2009, she scored her maiden century in One Day Internationals against South Africa, an unbeaten 109. In the 2010 ICC Women’s Cricket Challenge, Taylor scored 390 runs in five matches with an average of 97.50 and was the standout performer that season. Following her exceptional performance throughout her career, she was named in the 2011 ICC Women’s T20 Team of the Year. She went on to smash the third-highest total in women’s ODIs hitting 171 runs against Sri Lanka at the 2013 World Cup.

Taylor has achieved everything in her cricketing life; her cricketing records have been phenomenal. She took over the captaincy from Merissa Aguilleira in 2015. Then in 2016, the West Indies won the 2016 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup under her captaincy defeating the mighty Australians. In June 2018, she was named the Women’s Cricketer of the Year and the Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year at the annual Cricket West Indies Awards. In November 2020, Taylor was nominated for the Rachael Heyhoe-Flint award for ICC Female Cricketer of the Decade and the award for Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Decade. Apart from her leading capabilities, Taylor has also achieved exceptional batting records, like being the first female cricketer to score a century and take four wickets in a WODI and being the only player to have scored over 5,000 runs and struck more than 150 wickets in WODI cricket.

In domestic leagues worldwide, Taylor has good experience playing for different clubs. In 2021, she was drafted by Southern Brave for the inaugural season of The Hundred. She has represented various domestic teams like Auckland, Trailblazers, Guyana Amazon Warriors, and Tornadoes in her phenomenal cricketing career.
