After losing the toss, Vancouver Thunderbirds were put into bat first and encountered difficulties right from the start. They struggled to put together meaningful partnerships and ended their innings at a disappointing 75 for 9 in their 10 overs. The Thunderbirds faced an unfortunate start when Achini Perera was run out without scoring, which set a precarious tone for the rest of their innings.

The only batter to make an impression was Ailsa Lister, who managed a brisk 25 runs off 17 balls, hitting four boundaries and a six. However, with wickets falling consistently, her efforts weren’t enough to stabilise the innings. However, runs from Amanda-Jade Wellington (10) and Saee Purandare (24 off 12) lifted the team to 75. Amarpal Kaur was the star of the bowling attack, taking three crucial wickets and maintaining tight lines, while Xara Jetly also claimed three wickets, breaking apart Vancouver’s middle order.

Chasing a target of 76, the Toronto Sixers Women approached their innings with determination and confidence, spearheaded by their dynamic captain, Deandra Dottin. Known for her explosive batting and poise under pressure, Dottin delivered a fantastic performance with an unbeaten 46 runs off just 29 balls, hitting two fours and three sixes.

Dottin led the charge against Vancouver bowlers with powerful strikes and smart running. Sterre Kalis provided solid support, contributing 10 runs off 10 balls while effectively rotating the strike and minimising risks. The only hiccup for Toronto was when Sindhu Sriharsha was dismissed for 16 by Jess Joseph, but by that point, the chase was well under control. Toronto reached their target comfortably in 9.3 overs, finishing at 76 for 1, clinching the match with three balls to spare.

The Vancouver bowlers struggled to find their rhythm and lacked the necessary consistency. Jess Joseph was the only wicket-taker, with figures of 1 for 23 in 2 overs, while bowlers like Amanda-Jade Wellington and Indomatie Goordial-John faced challenges in containing Toronto’s batters. Despite their earlier success in the series, the Thunderbirds seemed to lack the energy and discipline they had showcased in the previous match.

Amarpal Kaur rightfully earned the Player of the Match award for her outstanding bowling performance, 3/4 off 2 overs, which dismantled the Vancouver batting lineup and set the stage for a comfortable chase. Additionally, Dottin’s leadership and batting prowess were evident as she guided her team to victory.
