“I really enjoyed my time in the region last year and I can’t wait to be a part of Somerset’s first-ever professional women’s team. I know a lot of the players and staff from my time with Storm, and there is a genuine bond within the group. We have the chance to put down a marker and set the standards for Somerset Women this summer. That’s a very special responsibility, and I can’t wait to get started.”

Somerset Women’s Head Coach, Trevor Griffin, who has worked with Wellington before, believes she will be an invaluable addition to the squad, both on and off the field.

“What can I say about Wello? She’s competitive, positive, determined, and a real fighter who never gives up. She’ll be an incredible asset to the squad. I’ve had the pleasure of working with her previously and have seen first-hand how she uses her experience of playing at the top level around the world to support and encourage her fellow players. A lot of our squad are at the beginning of their career, and having Wello next to them in the dressing room and on the pitch is a huge asset, both to them individually and to the squad as a whole.”

Somerset CCC’s Director of Cricket, Andy Hurry, echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing Wellington’s ability to elevate the team’s performance and provide invaluable guidance to young talents.

“Amanda-Jade is a player of proven ability. We saw her quality and impact last summer, and we are delighted to be welcoming her back to an environment she enjoys and knows so well. Alongside her playing ability, the knowledge and experience that she has will be incredibly beneficial to the group as a whole.”
