Bio:

Sneh Rana, an all-rounder from Dehradun, bats right-handed and bowls off-spin. Whether with bat or ball, she’s always eager to contribute on the field. A busy cricketer, Rana relishes challenges, often delivering under pressure. Indian fans vividly recall her innings in 2021 against England in Bristol (80 off 154 balls) along with her four wickets, helping India draw the test, which was also her debut match. As of 2024, it stands as the second-highest ninth-wicket partnership till date, achieved with Taniya Bhatia.

In the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League, she was picked by the Gujarat Giants franchise for INR 75 lakhs. During the 2023 WPL season, Rana was appointed captain of the Gujarat Giants after the original captain, Beth Mooney, suffered a calf injury in the first match. Initially the vice-captain, Rana stepped up to lead the team in Mooney’s absence. Despite the team’s challenges, Rana’s performance as captain was commendable in the 2023 season. She played eight matches, scoring 90 runs and taking 6 wickets. However, the team faced a tough season, winning only two out of their eight matches and missing out on the playoffs.

She received her maiden national call-up in a multi-format series against Sri Lanka in 2014, making her ODI and T20 debut in the same series. Rana was part of the 2023 Women’s World Cup as a replacement for the injured Pooja Vastrakar. Her only match in the World Cup came in India’s semi-final against Australia, in which she scored 11 runs before being dismissed and didn’t take a wicket with the ball. In the second edition of WPL, it was an ordinary outing for the bowling all-rounder, scoring only 12 runs with the bat and going wicketless.
