Bio:

A new-ball bowler who grew up watching and idolising the legendary pacer Jhulan Goswami, Pooja Vastrakar, much like many other girls, began by playing cricket with the boys in Madhya Pradesh. She made her international debut against South Africa in 2018. The Challenger Trophy in 2018 played a pivotal role in Vastrakar’s selection for India’s South Africa tour.

In October 2018, she was named in India’s squad for the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 tournament in the West Indies. However, she suffered an injury during a warm-up match and was later ruled out of the tournament. Known for her powerful hitting, Pooja has often played crucial innings for India, particularly in the lower order. One of her most memorable batting performances came during the 2022 Women’s Cricket World Cup, where she scored a vital 67, steering India to a significant victory. Her ability to accelerate the scoring rate and her aggressive batting style make her a valuable asset in crunch situations.

The right-arm pacer has featured in all three formats for India. She made her Test debut against England at Bristol in 2021. In addition to her batting and bowling skills, Pooja is also recognized for her agility and sharpness in the field. She had an impressive outing in the Women’s Cricket World Cup, scoring 156 runs lower down the order and picking up 10 wickets.
