Sumaiya Akter stepped onto the international cricket scene in October 2023. By 2024, she had played in just one One Day International (ODI) and one T20 International (T20I). In the domestic circuit, Sumaiya has played for Mymensingh Division, representing them from 2017 to 2022.
Her T20I debut came on October 29, 2023, against Pakistan during their tour of Bangladesh at Chattogram. While she only managed to score more than three runs and had not yet bowled in the format.
Sumaiya’s ODI debut followed on March 27, 2024, against Australia during their tour of Bangladesh at Mirpur. Though she did not score any runs or bowl in this match.
