Shorna Akter’s cricketing journey began when she made her international debut, aged 16, in February 2023. In the domestic circuit, she played for Chittagong Division in 2022 and for Jamuna in the 2022/23 season.
Across the two formats internationally, she has already achieved a significant milestone with one five-wicket haul.
In T20 Internationals, Shorna debuted on February 12, 2023, against Sri Lanka during the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup at Cape Town. As of 2024, she has scored over 200 runs and picked more than 10 wickets. Notably, she took her maiden five-wicket haul (5/28) in T20Is on December 3, 2023, against South Africa during Bangladesh’s tour to South Africa.
Shorna also represented the Bangladesh Under-19 Team in the 2023 Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup, where she scored 153 runs at an average of 51.00, including a half-century (50*). Her impressive performance earned her a place in the tournament’s team of the tournament, making her the only Bangladeshi player to receive this honor.
In One Day Internationals, Shorna made her debut on July 16, 2023, against India during their tour of Bangladesh at Mirpur. By 2024, she had scored over 50 runs and taken more than one wicket, showcasing her all-round capabilities in the international arena.
