First ever women’s T20 championship in Jammu and Kashmir

On 30th september, first ever women’s T20 championship was organized by Jammu and Kashmir state sports council, headed by Waheed-Ul-Rehman (secretary, sports council) under the banner of State Cricket Acadmey.

13 teams from Jammu and Kashmir participated in the tournament. 

Team Ladhak made their debut in the tournament. 3 teams from Jammu and 9 other teams came together from other districts of Srinagar.

This league cum knockout tournament’s inaugural match was played on 30th September, 2017 between Jammu Queens and Srinagar Slay Demons.

Chief minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti graced the inaugural function with her presence and motivated the girls with her kind words. “Time has changed now and girls have to come out and show their power”, she quoted.

  2. Green valley
  3. Dps
  4. Women’s college
  5. South Kashmir
  6. Valley smashers
  7. Srinagar slay demons
  8. Nawakadal
  9. Jammu warriors
  10. Jammu Queens
  11. Jammu stars
  12. Ladakh warriors
  13. WCC anatnag

Of which only 8 qualified for Quarter-finals: 

  1. Srinagar power hitters
  2. Jammu warriors
  3. Jammu queens
  4. Ladakh warriors
  5. Women’s college
  6. WCC anatnag
  7. Jammu stars
  8. Green valley

The semi-final was played between

  1. Srinagar Power Hitters and Jammu Queens
  2. Jammu Warriors and  M.A road college for women’s

Team coach Roopali Slathia (level 2 BCCI Coach) and Satika Sharma along with Team Manager Veena Sharma helped their team win the tournament.
