Jhulan Goswami rattles stumps in the nets, challenges Akash Chopra and Deep Dasgupta

She took to micro-blogging media platform Twitter and shared a clip of her fearsome delivery. Interestingly, she knocks the off stump out of the ground and showcases her pace. More interesting was her caption where she challenged greats of the game to face her. The caption had Akash Chopra, Deepdas Gupta and Vikrant Gupta finding their mentions with a challenge to face the pace of Goswami.

Fans and tweeples were delighted to the sheer pace of the veteran who had been the pillar of Indian attack. Amidst anticipation of seeing the faceoff and encounter of the greats, Jhulan got a candid reply from Akash who, in awe of the pacer’s skills, hesitated and said thanks but no thanks.

Nonetheless, while ending the reply Akash Chopra expressed his desire for making this happen once. The tall pacer challenged another cricketer-turned-commentator Deepdas Gupta who was once wicketkeeper for the Indian side. Along with Akash and Deep, she also mentioned Vikrant Gupta in her challenge to pad up and face. Vikrant is a common face in one of the biggest news networks.

All three faces are common in Indian sporting households. It is no wrong to believe that the names of these greats will bring more heads to the game and more buzz to the sport. The female manifest of the game needs more players like Akash and Jhulan to break conventional barriers. With more active involvement of stars, the game will have more people tuning it and following the game and the buzz that follows.

Jhulan has been one of the finest produces from the Indian subcontinent. Before retiring from the shorter format of the game, she was India’s go-to allrounder and was leading the team as well. Apparently, at a stage in her career, she walked into the field as the fastest women pacer in world cricket.

Moreover, the tall quick has once registered herself as the highest wicket-taker and has shared a dressing room with the player as a coach. Akash and Deepdas enjoy considerable fandom in cricketing stints due to their post-retirement on-camera stint. With millions of followers watching a female cricketer challenging the greats of the men, the team reflects that the ladies in blue are here to stay and indeed are no less than our men.
