The Women’s Premier League (WPL) will enter its fifth edition in 2027, with all five franchises confirming their retained and released players. The tournament is scheduled from January to February. The retention deadline was September 28, 2026, as set by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The confirmed lists give a clear picture of the squads moving into the new season.
The WPL began in 2023, with Mumbai Indians winning the inaugural edition. MI and Royal Challengers Bengaluru are the joint-most successful teams, with two titles each. RCB are the reigning champions after Smriti Mandhana’s side defeated Delhi Capitals in a thriller in the previous edition. The latest decisions show which players will continue with each franchise.
Ellyse Perry has been retained by RCB after withdrawing from the previous edition due to personal reasons. The veteran Australian all-rounder will continue with the franchise. Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana have also been retained by MI and RCB, respectively, after winning two trophies each. Jemimah Rodrigues and Deepti Sharma are among the other established names retained.
