The Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL) 2026-27 is set to begin on September 29, 2026, with the latest season of Australia’s domestic women’s 50-over competition getting underway. Queensland are the defending champions, having beaten New South Wales by seven runs via the DLS method in last season’s final. The season will feature matches across different parts of Australia before the final brings the campaign to a close. Points System
The WNCL 2026-27 points system rewards teams based on their match results, with an additional bonus point available for teams that win by a strong margin. A win earns 4 points, while a tie or no-result match gives 2 points to each team and a loss earns 0 points. A winning team can earn 1 bonus point if it meets the required scoring-rate conditions: when batting first, the team must finish with a run rate at least 1.25 times that of the opposition, while a team batting second must reach the target by the end of the 40th over in a full 50-over match or within 80% of the available overs if the match is reduced because of weather.
Only one bonus point can be earned in a match, and at the end of the preliminary rounds, the top two teams on the points table qualify for the final, with Net Run Rate (NRR) used to separate teams that finish level on points. Slow over-rates can also lead to points deductions under the competition regulations.
