The Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL) returns for another compelling season from 29th September 2026 to 20th March 2027, bringing together seven of Australia’s finest state sides in the country’s premier women’s domestic one-day tournament.
Victoria, Queensland Fire, Tasmania Tigers, Western Australia, South Australia Scorpions, Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Meteors, and New South Wales Breakers will contest a double round-robin league stage, with each team facing the others twice before the top two advance to the final. As the tournament that has shaped generations of Australian women cricketers since its inaugural edition in 1996–97, the WNCL remains the definitive proving ground for talent aiming for national honours.
Tournament History:
Since its inception in 1996–97, the WNCL has grown into the cornerstone of Australia’s women’s domestic cricket structure. New South Wales stands as the most successful side in the competition’s history, having lifted the title 21 times. The Tasmanian Tigers follow with three championships, while Victoria and Queensland Fire have each secured two titles.
South Australia and Western Australia have claimed one title apiece, highlighting the competitive evolution of the tournament over nearly three decades. Through its rich history, the WNCL has not only showcased emerging stars but also provided a platform for established internationals to refine their skills in the 50-over format.
