Experienced West Indies wicketkeeper-batter Shemaine Campbelle marked a memorable personal milestone in the opening ODI against Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club, Harare, on September 24, 2026, becoming only the fourth West Indian woman to score 2,000 ODI runs. The 33-year-old joined an elite group featuring Stafanie Taylor, Deandra Dottin and captain Hayley Matthews, while also making her 300th international appearance for the West Indies.
Campbelle entered the contest needing just three runs to reach the landmark and got there during her 13 off 28 balls from No. 4 in the first innings. Her innings featured one boundary as West Indies, after Matthews won the toss and chose to bat, accumulated 299 for 6 from their 50 overs. West Indies went on to secure a 99-run victory and a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.
The milestone is another indication of Campbelle’s sustained value to West Indies cricket since her ODI debut against South Africa at Paarl on October 21, 2009. In 140 ODI appearances, she has compiled 2,010 runs in 124 innings at an average of 19.51 and a strike rate of 58.48, including one century and five half-centuries. Her longevity is especially notable given her role as a wicketkeeper-batter, frequently asked to provide stability through different phases of an innings.
Her defining ODI performance arrived against Sri Lanka at Dambulla on February 24, 2013. Batting at No. 7, Campbelle struck a superb 105 from 138 deliveries, with eight fours and four sixes, as West Indies made 180 for 8 in 50 overs. Although West Indies lost the match by four wickets, the innings remains her highest ODI score and a reminder of the lower-order power and resilience she has offered across a long international career.
Campbelle has also contributed with her medium pace, claiming 21 ODI wickets in 38 innings at an average of 35.85 and an economy rate of 3.53. Her all-round utility has been equally evident in T20 internationals since making her debut against South Africa at Paarl on October 25, 2009. She has scored 1,707 T20I runs in 128 innings at an average of 16.41, while taking 34 wickets in 44 bowling innings at an average of 19.88 and an economy rate of 5.11.
One of her most recent standout moments came at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 in England and Wales, when her unbeaten 90 from 62 balls against New Zealand at Southampton on June 13 guided West Indies through a chase of 163. Her seven fours and three sixes powered a seven-wicket win, earning her the Player of the Match award.
Zimbabwe, led by Josephine Nkomo, are hosting Hayley Matthews’ West Indies in a white-ball bilateral series featuring three ODIs followed by three T20Is, running from September 24 to October 7 for the first time. The second ODI will take place at the Harare Sports Club on September 27 from 1 PM IST, with Campbelle now carrying both the confidence of a series-opening win and the distinction of belonging to West Indies’ exclusive 2,000-run ODI club.
