The fifth edition of the Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) is set to promote women’s T20 cricket in the Caribbean, running from 6th to 17th September 2026 at the iconic Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.
This landmark tournament marks a pivotal expansion from three franchises to four, welcoming the newly introduced Jamaica Empress alongside returning Barbados Royals (now rebranded as Barbados Tridents), Guyana Amazon Warriors, and Trinbago Knight Riders. With all matches staged at one of cricket’s most historic venues, the 2026 WCPL promises heightened competition, fresh rivalries, and a bigger platform for regional and international talent.
Since its inception in 2022, the WCPL has rapidly established itself as a cornerstone of the women’s cricket calendar in the West Indies. The Trinbago Knight Riders claimed the inaugural title in 2022, setting a high standard for excellence. However, the Barbados franchise, formerly known as the Barbados Royals, has since dominated the competition, lifting the trophy in three consecutive editions (2023, 2024, and 2025). Their sustained success has made them the team to beat, but the addition of Jamaica Empress could reshape the balance of power and inject new energy into the tournament.
