Australia’s 23-year-old top-order batter Phoebe Litchfield has etched her name into the history of The Hundred, becoming the fifth batter to surpass 1,000 runs in the Women’s competition. In doing so, the Sunrisers Leeds opener also became only the second overseas batter after South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt to reach the milestone, underlining her growing influence in one of the world’s most competitive short-form tournaments.
Phoebe Litchfield achieved the landmark during the 27th match of the ongoing sixth edition on 9 August 2026, when Sunrisers Leeds faced Welsh Fire, led by Georgia Wareham at Headingley, Leeds. She entered the contest just 51 runs short of the landmark and delivered under pressure, smashing a brilliant 55 from 25 balls in the run chase of 122.
Opening alongside Bryony Smith, Litchfield struck six boundaries and three maximums, setting the tone for a commanding six-wicket victory. Her explosive innings earned her the Player of the Match award, while Sunrisers Leeds, led by Danielle Gibson, strengthened their position in fourth place on the points table with 16 points from seven matches, including four victories and three defeats.
Litchfield’s journey in The Hundred began on 3 August 2023, when she made her debut for the Northern Superchargers against Birmingham Phoenix at Headingley. The franchise has since been rebranded as Sunrisers Leeds, ahead of the ongoing 6th edition, but Litchfield’s impact has remained constant. Across 34 matches and 33 innings, she has now accumulated 1,004 runs at an impressive strike rate of 145.5 and an average of 35.85, including five half-centuries.
Her landmark campaign has already produced a series of memorable performances. On 7 August, against Birmingham Phoenix at Edgbaston, Birmingham, Litchfield produced her best innings for the side, guiding Sunrisers Leeds to a nine-wicket victory in a chase of 108. Batting alongside Smith, she remained unbeaten on 71 from just 33 balls, striking 13 boundaries and one six as her team reached the target with 31 balls to spare. That innings also saw Litchfield break the record for the fastest half-century in the Women’s Hundred, reaching fifty in only 20 balls. Once again, she was named Player of the Match.
The Australian is currently the leading run-scorer of the sixth edition, which runs from 21 July to 16 August 2026. She has amassed 262 runs in seven innings at a strike rate of 163.75 and an outstanding average of 43.66, including two half-centuries.
Litchfield’s latest milestone places her alongside Nat Sciver-Brunt, Sophia Dunkley, Danielle Wyatt-Hodge and Laura Wolvaardt in The Hundred’s 1,000-run club. More significantly, it reflects the emergence of a batter capable of combining fearless strokeplay with consistency, qualities that have made Phoebe Litchfield one of the defining stars of the 2026 Women’s Hundred.
