The inaugural ICC-recognised series is a landmark for Swiss cricket, offering five days of competitive international action, ICC ranking points and a vivid demonstration of the progress of women’s cricket across emerging nations.

The tournament signifies more than fixtures on a calendar; it is the culmination of sustained development work by Cricket Switzerland’s volunteers, clubs, coaches and players. For the host nation, the series provides an invaluable chance for the Swiss Women’s National Team to test itself against varied playing styles and rising talent, while performing before a home crowd for the first time in official WT20I status. For Brazil, Spain and Jersey, the Zurich event presents meaningful match practice, ranking implications and exposure that support their ongoing growth on the international stage.

Embrach Cricket Ground, Zurich, will be the festival’s focal point, welcoming supporters, families and the wider sporting community to five days of high-energy T20 cricket. The compact format promises entertaining contests and fierce competition as the four teams contest honours and valuable ranking points. Beyond the field, the series aligns with Cricket Switzerland’s long-term vision to establish the country as a viable destination for international fixtures and to create more pathways for women and girls to participate in the sport.

This first official WT20I event in Switzerland also highlights the increasing diversity of European women’s cricket. Brazil’s presence underscores the globalising reach of the women’s game, while Spain and Jersey bring European competitive depth and contrasting tactical approaches. The battle of these teams in Zurich offers players and coaches a rare exposure to different cricketing cultures in a concentrated tournament setting, an experience likely to accelerate skill development and strategic maturity.

Organisers have expressed gratitude to the participating boards, match officials, volunteers and sponsors whose commitment turned the vision into reality. Their collaboration was essential to secure ICC recognition and ensure that the series delivers on both sporting and community objectives: to inspire grassroots participation, showcase role models for young players, and elevate the profile of women’s cricket in Switzerland and neighbouring regions.

Each contest will carry weight on the scoreboard and in the broader narrative of how opportunities and investment are widening access to international women’s cricket.

As Zurich prepares to host this historic event, Cricket Switzerland have also invited the local supporters to attend and support the players who are making national sporting history. The Quadrangular is more than five days of matches; it is a statement of intent: that women’s cricket is growing, diversifying and finding new homes across Europe.
