The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 match between India Women and Netherlands Women at Headingley, Leeds, ended with a comfortable 95-run win for India. While the match itself featured some excellent cricket, one of the most special moments came after the game when players from both teams shared smiles, hugs, photos and friendly conversations that showed the true spirit of the sport.

India were excellent throughout the contest. Smriti Mandhana led the batting with a brilliant 74 runs from 47 balls, while Shafali Verma made 55 from 38 deliveries. The opening pair gave India a strong start and helped their team reach 209/5 in 20 overs. Later, Richa Ghosh added a quick unbeaten 20 from just eight balls, while Deepti Sharma smashed 10 runs from only two deliveries to finish the innings strongly.

The Netherlands tried their best during the chase but were bowled out for 114 in 17.3 overs. Captain Babette de Leede top-scored with 28 runs, while Heather Siegers contributed 21. For India, Shree Charani impressed with four wickets and Shafali Verma picked up three as India completed a big victory and continued their unbeaten start to the tournament.

After the match ended, the focus quickly shifted from competition to friendship as players from both teams came together in a cheerful atmosphere.

As players gathered in the dressing room area after the game, Netherlands captain Babette de Leede walked over to the Indian group with a smile and greeted them warmly. The players shared laughs, memories and conversations, creating a memorable scene after a hard-fought match.

One touching moment involved Netherlands player Frederique Overdijk and India captain Harmanpreet Kaur. Overdijk reminded Harmanpreet about a meeting they had years ago and brought back a special memory.

“That was you in 2018 when she said you are her favourite player. We have it on film.”

The comment brought smiles to everyone around them. Soon after, Netherlands batter Sterre Kalis shared a warm hug with Harmanpreet. It was a lovely moment that showed how players can inspire others, no matter which team they represent.

Another nice conversation took place between Deepti Sharma and Netherlands bowler Caroline de Lange. Deepti praised the young bowler for the effort she showed during the match.

“Coming to the first ball, it’s hard to understand that, but you bowled very well.”

Caroline appreciated the compliment and replied, “Thank you.”

Throughout the gathering, players from both teams spent time chatting, laughing and taking photographs together. Many posed for selfies and enjoyed talking away from the pressure of international cricket.
