India batter Jemimah Rodrigues has said she is happy to bat in any position as the team continues to try different team plans before the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.

With the World Cup getting closer, India are using the ongoing T20I series against England to test different players and batting positions. The team wants to find the best combination before the tournament starts.
Rodrigues has been one of the players asked to bat in different positions. Earlier this year, she batted at No. 3 during India’s T20I series against Australia and South Africa. However, in the first two matches against England, she batted at No. 4 and No. 5.
But Rodrigues said the batting position is not the most important thing for her. She believes knowing her role clearly is what matters most.
“I think I’m comfortable at all positions. In the end, it is important for me to have clarity. And when I have clarity about a certain role, I know I can go out there and deliver. Now is the time where we have a few more games to experiment about what’s the best combination that’s working for the team,” said Rodrigues.
The Indian batter feels this is the right time to try different combinations before the T20 World Cup. With only a few matches left before the tournament, the team is using every opportunity to see what works best.
India’s coaches and support staff are giving players chances in different roles and situations. The aim is to make sure the team is ready for any challenge during the World Cup.
Rodrigues being ready to move around the batting order shows the team-first approach in the Indian camp. The players are focused on doing what is best for the team rather than thinking about personal positions.
Another big positive for India has been the return of Yastika Bhatia. The left-handed batter recently returned to international cricket after being out for nearly two years because of injury.
Rodrigues said having Bhatia back in the squad is a huge boost and praised the way she performed on international return after 19 months away due to multiple injury setbacks.
“Yastika was not with us lately because of her injury. So this is the only game time that she’s also getting. For us to have her here is a great advantage. We saw what she did in the first game, the way she batted. To come out after injury and do such a thing, it takes a lot of character,” added Rodrigues.
Bhatia made an excellent return by scoring 54 runs in her first match on return for India. Her innings gave India another strong batting option ahead of the World Cup and added more depth to the squad.
As India continues getting ready for the tournament, the team is focused on finding its best playing combination. With players ready to take different roles and important players returning from injury, India will hope to be fully prepared when the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 begins.
The England series is giving India a good chance to test players, build confidence and finalise plans before the biggest tournament of the year. Rodrigues believes the team is using this time well and making the most of every opportunity before the World Cup starts.
