The National Women’s T20 Tournament 2025-26 wrapped up in electrifying fashion on April 12, as Tuba Hassan’s Stars defended their title with a commanding 52-run victory over Invincibles in the final at Lahore’s Ghani Glass Cricket Ground. This 17-day spectacle, from March 27, shattered records and showcased Pakistan women’s domestic T20 cricket at its fearless best, highlighted by blistering totals, power-hitting, and wicket hauls that signal a bold evolutionary shift in the game in Pakistan.

Stars’ repeat triumph echoed their previous 42-run win over Conquerors in Karachi, but this edition raised the bar sky-high. Conquerors rewrote history with the tournament’s and Pakistan women’s domestic T20, the highest-ever total of 241 against Challengers at Ghani Glass, eclipsing Lahore’s 233 in Rawalpindi in January 2024. Explosive batting dominated, yielding one century and 21 half-centuries, while the top 10 run-getters averaged at a scorching strike rate of 152.91.

Invincibles captain Muneeba Ali ruled the roost as the leading run-scorer with 344 runs across nine matches, including a tournament-high four half-centuries, earning her Best Batter honours. On the bowling front, her teammate Momina Riasat’s 16 wickets in nine games, capped by stunning figures of 4-10 against Stars on April 2 at Bagh-e-Jinnah, secured her Best Bowler award. Conquerors’ Anosha Nasir nearly stole the show with a mesmerising 6-13 in four overs against Strikers, the second-best haul in Pakistan women’s domestic T20 history, trailing only Sadia Yousuf’s 6-10 from 2012.

Tuba Hassan and Conquerors’ Fatima Sana shared Player of the Tournament accolades, embodying all-round brilliance. Tuba piled up 192 runs with two half-centuries and snared 10 wickets, while Fatima erupted for 271 runs (three fifties) and eight wickets. Post-final, Tuba reflected on Stars’ composure: “We played simple cricket, and there was no pressure in the final. Our intent was positive, and we were targeting a total of 160-170. The bowlers also supported really well.”

Fatima Sana, whose power-hitting lit up the tournament, captured the shifting tides of the sport: “The way cricket is evolving at the international level, there is a clear demand for fearless and attacking cricket. The players have executed that approach really well, playing with intent and confidence, which is exactly what modern-day cricket requires.”

This tournament wasn’t just about trophies; it was a reminder for Pakistan women’s cricket. With camps honing chases and defences around 160-170, and domestic stars mirroring international demands, the future looks fiercely competitive for the Fatima Sana-led senior Pakistan women’s cricket team.
