Resuming in response to Gold’s first-innings total of 292, CA Green showed resilience to post 234 in 87.4 overs, cutting the deficit to 58 runs and keeping themselves firmly in the contest. Their innings was defined by a mix of counterattacking intent and lower-order grit after a middle-order wobble threatened to derail their progress.

Continuing from day 1, Charli Knott provided the early momentum with a fluent 49 off 47 balls, striking nine boundaries and taking the attack to Gold’s bowlers. At the other end, Rachel Trenaman contributed a patient 20 from 74 deliveries, but a cluster of wickets saw Green slip from 76-1 to 77-4 in quick time, halting their momentum.

From there, Bridget Patterson steadied the innings with a composed 40 off 113 balls, absorbing pressure and allowing partnerships to rebuild. The defining contribution, however, came from Hayley Silver-Holmes, whose unbeaten 53 from 104 deliveries ensured Green remained competitive. Her knock, featuring seven boundaries, was crucial in pushing the total to 234 and limiting Gold’s first-innings advantage.

The standout performer for CA Gold was Frankie Nicklin, who delivered a superb spell of 4 for 18 from 14.4 overs, including eight maidens. Her relentless accuracy and control choked the scoring rate and broke key partnerships. Sianna Ginger provided excellent support with 3 for 21 from 12 overs, while Amy Hunter, Courtney Neale and Hasrat Gill each picked up a wicket.

With a first-innings lead of 58, CA Gold had the opportunity to build a match-winning position, but CA Green’s bowlers responded strongly in the second innings to keep the game alive. Gold’s top order struggled under pressure, losing Maddy Darke (12), Katie Mack (12) and Courtney Webb (6) inside the first 10 overs. Hayley Silver-Holmes capped an impressive all-round day by removing both Mack and Webb, while Milly Illingworth struck early to dismiss Darke.

Further wickets fell as Olivia Porter and Ella Hayward were dismissed, leaving Gold in trouble at 56-5. Jemma Barsby and Sophie Day also contributed with a wicket each, ensuring there was no respite for the batting side.

Anika Learoyd, following her commanding 142* in the first innings, remained unbeaten on 11 from 41 balls, once again tasked with stabilizing the innings. She was joined late in the day by Sianna Ginger, with the pair seeing out the remaining overs.

At stumps, CA Gold are 56-5 in their second innings, holding an overall lead of 114 runs, but with the match now finely balanced. What had appeared to be a commanding position after day one has tightened considerably, with Green clawing their way back through disciplined bowling and determined batting.

Heading into day three, CA Gold are aiming to extend their lead into a more defendable total, relying on their lower order to add valuable runs. CA Green, meanwhile, are carrying momentum and will be looking to wrap up the innings quickly before chasing what now shapes as a potentially manageable target.
