After electing to bat first, CA Gold built their innings around a superb knock from Learoyd who finished unbeaten on 142 off 176 balls striking 12 fours and three sixes in a commanding display. Walking in after early wickets, she anchored the innings with composure while also accelerating when required, ensuring Gold posted a strong total on a surface that offered assistance to both batters and bowlers.

Gold’s innings began shakily, with Katie Mack falling early for 4, caught by Bridget Patterson off Tayla Vlaeminck. Courtney Webb (25 off 38) and Maddy Darke (21 off 53) attempted to rebuild, but both fell to Hayley Silver-Holmes, leaving the side at 53-3 inside 18 overs. From there, Learoyd took control. She stitched together key partnerships, first with Olivia Porter (16 off 44) and then with Ella Hayward (10), guiding Gold past 100. Despite a brief wobble that saw two quick wickets fall in the 36th over, Learoyd found solid support from Lucy Finn.

Finn contributed a valuable 59 off 129 balls, including six boundaries, as the pair added a crucial 145-run stand for the seventh wicket. That partnership lifted Gold from a precarious middle-overs position to one of strength, with Learoyd continuing to dominate proceedings. Late wickets fell in quick succession, with Hasrat Gill, Lilly Mills and Frankie Nicklin unable to add significant runs, but Learoyd remained unbeaten as Gold were bowled out for 292 in 83.3 overs.

For CA Green, Charli Knott was the standout bowler, claiming 3 for 58 from 13.2 overs, while Milly Illingworth (2-30), Hayley Silver-Holmes (2-31) and Jemma Barsby (2-59) all contributed with two wickets each. Vlaeminck also struck early, finishing with 1-15 from six overs.

In reply, CA Green made a steady but cautious start, though they lost Emma de Broughe early. That left them at 4-1 before Rachel Trenaman and Charli Knott combined to stabilise the innings. The pair added an unbeaten 59-run stand to close the day, with Trenaman finishing on 18 not out from 54 balls, while Knott provided the attacking edge with 37 not out off 29 deliveries, including seven boundaries at a strike rate of 127.59.

At stumps, CA Green are sitting at 63-1 from 14 overs, still trailing by 229 runs with nine wickets in hand, as they continue to rebuild after the early setback. The partnership between Trenaman and Knott is currently holding firm, giving their side some stability heading into the next phase of the match.

The contest is currently tilting in CA Gold’s favour, driven largely by Learoyd’s commanding innings and Finn’s crucial support. However, CA Green are showing signs of resistance, and as play moves into Day 2, they will be looking to extend this partnership and gradually chip away at the deficit.
