Goa university women’s cricket team qualifies for the first time in West zone inter zonal cricket championship

In the fourth round match of the west zone inter-zonal cricket championship, Goa university women’s cricket team has qualified for the first time, after its 78-run win over LNIPE, Gwalior in the fourth round match, organized by Barkatullah University, Bhopal, on Saturday.

Goa university team was on the field, batting first and they put up a massive target of 204 runs in 39 overs. Divya scored a half-century with 52 runs, Sindiya Naik (23), Vanita Bhandari (48), Sherya Parab (31) and Sughanda Ghadi (16) were commendable with the bat on the field.

LNIPE, Gwalior surrendered in just 123 runs in 35 overs, tremendous bowling effort by the Goa team led them to this victory. Ciya Phaldesai (2/17), Sindiya Naik (2/32), Vanita Bhandari (2/17), Diksha Gaude (2/25) and Sherya Parab (1/33).

Goa University will now play in the West Zone league to decide the seedings. The other qualifiers are Mumbai University, SP Pune University and hosts Barkattullah University, Bhopal.
