Delmi Tucker Stars as Western Province Clinch Women’s Pro50 2026 Title vs Lions

The CSA Women Pro50 Series 2025-26 Final at Kingsmead was a tale of two very different halves, ending in a dominant eight-wicket victory for Western Province over Lions.

It was a clinical performance from the Province side, who essentially won the game in the first hour by dismantling the Lions’ batting lineup. After the Lions won the toss and chose to bat, they were bundled out for a meager 99 in just 29.3 overs. Western Province chased that total down with professional ease, reaching 100/2 in 23.6 overs to secure the trophy with plenty of time to spare.

The morning started with a sense of optimism for the Lions, but that quickly faded as Western Province bowlers hit their straps immediately. The Durban pitch offered just enough for the seamers, and Delmi Tucker made the most of it. She was the thorn in the Lions’ side all morning, finishing with impressive figures of 3/18 in 7.3 overs. She wasn’t alone in the demolition job, as Caitlin Wyngaard proved to be the perfect partner in crime, picking up 3/25 to ensure the Lions never got a chance to breathe or build any meaningful partnerships.

Amidst the wreckage of the Lions’ innings, Diara Ramlakan stood as the lone warrior. While wickets tumbled around her at a steady clip, she dug in to score a gritty 41 off 51 balls. It was a lonely fight, though; the only other players to reach double figures were Sarah Nettleton, who remained not out on 12, and the veteran Sunette Viljoen-Louw, who could only manage 8. By the time the tenth wicket fell before the 30-over mark, it was clear that the Lions had a mountain to climb to defend such a low score.

When it was Western Province’s turn to bat, they showed exactly how to manage a small chase. They didn’t rush, but they didn’t let the Lions’ bowlers settle either. Faye Tunnicliffe was the steady hand they needed, anchoring the pursuit with an unbeaten 38 from 57 deliveries. Even though the legendary Shabnim Ismail tried her best to inject some drama—taking 2/34 in her 8-over burst—the target was simply too small to defend against a lineup with this much depth.

Megan Fourie played a solid supporting role, chipping in with 20 to help take the sting out of the initial new-ball spell. Once the foundation was laid, the result felt like a foregone conclusion. Fittingly, it was Delmi Tucker who joined Tunnicliffe at the end to finish what she started with the ball. Tucker stayed unbeaten on 20 off 34 balls, guiding her side across the line in the 24th over and capping off a true Player of the Match performance.

For Western Province, this victory was a testament to their preparation and execution under pressure. They looked every bit like champions from the moment the first ball was bowled. On the other hand, the Lions will be left reflecting on a tough day at the office where their batting failed to fire when it mattered most. It was a clinical, no-nonsense win for the Cape-based side, finishing off the Pro50 season in the most emphatic way possible.
