Indian domestic cricket witnessed a remarkable moment as teenage batting sensation Deeya Yadav etched her name in the record books with a stunning double century in the Women’s U23 One Day Trophy. The young Haryana batter produced a sensational innings of 206 runs off just 147 deliveries, showcasing extraordinary composure and attacking flair against Tripura. Opening the innings for Haryana, the 16-year-old demonstrated maturity beyond her years. From the very start, Yadav looked confident at the crease, combining elegant stroke play with fearless hitting. She hammered 22 boundaries and seven sixes, ensuring the scoreboard kept ticking at an impressive pace throughout the innings. Her ability to rotate the strike was equally impressive, with a significant portion of her runs coming through quick singles and doubles. By the time she reached her double century, Yadav had completely dominated the Tripura bowling attack and established herself as one of the most exciting young talents in Indian women’s cricket.

The innings was also marked by strong partnerships that helped Haryana build a massive total. Yadav shared a crucial 181-run opening stand with Tanishka Sharma, who contributed a valuable 79 runs and provided stability at the other end. Even after the opening partnership was broken, Yadav continued her attacking approach. She then added another 160-run partnership with captain Sonia Mendhiya, who chipped in with a half-century. These partnerships played a crucial role in Haryana eventually posting a commanding 356/3 in their 50 overs, putting enormous pressure on Tripura in the chase.

What made the innings even more special was the dramatic finish. Heading into the final overs, Yadav was closing in on her double century but needed a few quick runs to reach the milestone. With just a handful of balls remaining, she calmly found the boundary and crossed the 200-run mark, sending the crowd and her teammates into celebration. Haryana later capped off the memorable performance by restricting Tripura to just 109/9, sealing a comprehensive victory.

Yadav’s double century holds historical significance in Indian women’s cricket. With this knock, she surpassed the double-century record previously held by Smriti Mandhana, who had scored 224 runs for Maharashtra in an Under-19 one-day tournament in 2013, a landmark innings that made Mandhana the first Indian woman to score a double hundred in a limited-overs domestic match.
The fact that Yadav has now joined and surpassed such elite company highlights the scale of her achievement and underlines her immense potential.

Interestingly, this is not the first time Deeya Yadav has crossed the 200-run mark in limited-overs cricket. She previously smashed 213 runs in the Under-15 Women’s One Day Trophy in 2023, also against Tripura, making her one of the few young cricketers in India to score multiple double centuries at different age-group levels. Such consistency at such a young age has quickly turned her into one of the brightest prospects in the domestic circuit.
