Himalaya Wellness, India’s No.1 face wash brand, continues its commitment to empowering young girls through sport with the on-ground execution of the 1derwoman initiative in Mumbai, in collaboration with Female Cricket. The initiative came alive through a one-day grassroots cricket tournament for Under-15 girls, designed to inspire confidence, ambition, and leadership through real-world experiences.

Building on the vision of the 1derwoman Project—which encourages young girls to rise above challenges and aspire to be #1 in their chosen fields—the tournament created a meaningful bridge between aspiration and opportunity. Over 200 registrations were received from cricket academies and schools across Mumbai, from which 25 talented girls were shortlisted to compete in a five-team tournament.
The event was part of Himalaya’s larger 1derwoman Academy initiative, unveiled in line with National Girl Child Day. The Academy is a conversation-led, interactive platform designed to bring mentorship closer to aspiring young cricketers, offering learning, confidence-building guidance, and scholarship opportunities through direct engagement with the RCB Women’s team.

The Mumbai tournament followed a round-robin format, culminating in a closely contested final between the top two teams. The winning team was awarded a three-year cricket training scholarship, while the runners-up received full cricket kits, reinforcing the initiative’s focus on long-term support at the grassroots level.

Taking the experience a step further, the shortlisted participants were given the opportunity to meet players from the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Women’s team, transforming inspiration into a powerful real-world moment of connection. The interaction reinforced the belief that dreams are achievable with the right guidance and support.
Female Cricket, the world’s first dedicated platform for women’s cricket, executed the on-ground tournament, managing talent sourcing, operations, and event execution. Founded in 2016 by Vishal Yadav, Female Cricket has been at the forefront of promoting women’s cricket globally by sharing stories, milestones, and opportunities while nurturing the next generation of players through content and grassroots initiatives.
