Mehreen ‘Mayhem’ hits Colombo as she smashes a record-shattering double ton as Pakistan crush Sri Lanka in their campaign opener in the inaugural Blind T20 World Cup.
Pakistan, led by skipper Nimra Rafique, were all set to open their campaign against co-hosts Sri Lanka, led by skipper Mihirani Dulanjali, as the action moved to BOI Ground, Colombo, in the 2nd game of the day, in the inaugural edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind scheduled from 11th to 23rd November 2025.

India, led by skipper Deepika TC, defeated the USA, led by skipper Abey, by 10 wickets at the Samprasiddhi Sports Estadio, Bengaluru, in the first game of the triple-header on 15th November 2025, to make it 4 victories out of 4 games in the tournament.
Little did the Sri Lankan skipper, Mihirani Dulanjali, know about the nightmare that was to follow when she won the toss and inserted Pakistan to bat first. The Pakistani openers Hooria Malik and Mehreen Ali initially assessed the conditions on offer before they tore apart the Sri Lankan bowling attack with relentless disdain and ruthless consistency.
Mehreen Ali (230* off 78 balls) shattered all the records to become the first-ever player, men or women across any category, to score a double century in the T20I format. Her breathtaking knock included 45 boundaries, scoring at a humongous strike rate of 294.87. Hooria Malik (69* off 49 balls) played the anchor role. She smashed 6 boundaries.
The Sri Lankan bowlers were unable to break the opening stand; as a result, Pakistan breached the 300-run mark, ending their innings at 331/0 in their quota of 20 overs. Skipper Mihirani Dulanjali (4-0-47-0) was the most economical bowler for Sri Lanka in the context of the high-scoring run fest in Colombo.
Chasing a humongous total of 332, the Sri Lankan openers succumbed to the scoreboard pressure as a result; both of them were sent back within the first couple of overs in their bid for a record run chase. Skipper Mihirani Dulanjali joined Monika Padmini Dissanayake at the crease, and the duo displayed composure and experience to lead some sort of a recovery with a much-needed 59-run partnership for the 2nd wicket.
Sumaira Malik broke the stand, sending Monika Padmini Dissanayake (12 off 35 balls) in the 11th over of the run chase to provide the crucial 2nd breakthrough for Pakistan.
Another spirited 49-run partnership for the 3rd wicket between skipper Mihirani Dulanjali (51* off 55 balls) and Matheesha Sankethani (9* off 29 balls) took them past the 100-run mark, but eventually it wasn’t enough to get Sri Lanka anywhere near to Pakistan’s total. They were eventually restricted to 120/3 in their quota of 20 overs. As a result, falling short by a massive margin of 211 runs.
Sumaira Malik (4-0-21-1), Noor Fatima (3-0-26-1), and Hooria Malik (2-0-21-1) picked up a wicket each with the ball for Pakistan.
Mehreen Ali was awarded the Player of the Match for her blockbuster show (230* off 78 balls) with the bat, playing a crucial role alongside her fellow opener, setting things up for a dominant win to get their campaign off to a flying start in the inaugural edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind 2025.
