Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has referred to ICC after BCCI did not respond to PCB’s multiple calls for the championship matches. After the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) did not give a final word on the conduct of the championship matches with Pakistan, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken up the matter to the International Cricket Council (ICC).

As reported by Faizan Lakhani of geo.tv, a PCB spokesperson told that they have referred the matter to ICC after they didn’t hear from BCCI in spite of many reminders.

ICC Women’s Championship is a process by which direct qualification to the 50-overs World Cup can be made by the top 4 teams. Top 8 cricketing nations play against each other and accumulate points. The championship only takes account of the ODI matches.

At the end of the two-year Championship cycle, the top 4 teams will directly qualify for the ICC Women’s World Cup 2021. Pakistan are currently ranked 5th and will be definitely eyeing for the top 4 spots in the upcoming England series. They will be playing 3 ODIs against England in Malaysia as part of the championship. It will be their last series in the cycle if they don’t play India who have also completed all their championship matches except those against Pakistan.

India was scheduled to host Pakistan in the sixth round somewhere between July and October but it didn’t happen. In the first edition of the Championship, India had decided not to play Pakistan. Thus they had to forfeit the match points to Pakistan Women.

Currently, Pakistan has 15 points from 15 games while India has 20 points from 18 games. Chances of direct qualification for India will have a negative impact if they decide to forfeit the series again to Pakistan.
