Raised in Parsa village near Rohru in the Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh, Renuka Singh’s rise is built on outswing, stamina and stubborn persistence. From early grooming at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association’s residential academy to stints with Railways and the Trailblazers, she sharpened the new-ball craft that now anchors India’s pace attack, while her franchise chapter with Royal Challengers Bangalore in the WPL has showcased her skill on bigger stages.

Renuka Singh Thakur’s International Career

She made her ODI debut on 18 February 2022 against New Zealand and has since become India’s strike option up front: 19 ODIs, 35 wickets at 22.02 with the best of 5/29. The five-fer arrived in December 2024 against West Indies at Vadodara, a Player-of-the-Match spell that underlined her new-ball menace.

Her journey has weathered setbacks too. A stress-related back injury after WPL 2023 halted her progress; she returned in December 2024 with that 5/29 burst, then spent much of 2025 rehabbing before being named fit and recalled to India’s 2025 ODI World Cup squad in August. Through it all, she has remained India’s seam spearhead-in-waiting—quiet off the field, incisive with the new ball.
