Australia has confirmed its Under-19 women’s squad for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka, set to feature five T20s and a one-off 50-over match in Dambulla from September 19 to 29, 2025. This series marks an important opportunity for the next generation of cricketers to gain exposure in subcontinental conditions ahead of future ICC youth competitions.

Cricket Australia has placed strong emphasis on developing its youth pathway, and this bilateral series aligns with its commitment to provide young players with international match experience. Playing in Sri Lanka will test both the technical and mental resilience of the squad, particularly with spin-friendly pitches expected to dominate the conditions.
The 15-player contingent draws representatives from across six states and territories, with a balance of batters, bowlers, and all-round talents. Among the standout inclusions are:
Ira Aery (VIC/Essendon Maribyrnong Park Ladies CC), a stylish top-order batter known for her composure under pressure. Ava Drury (NSW/Northern District CC) and Lucy Finn (NSW/St George Sutherland), both recognised for their stroke play and ability to anchor innings. Sara Kennedy (TAS/Kingborough District CC), one of the promising fast bowlers emerging from Tasmania.
Shiloh Julien (NSW/Parramatta Women’s Grade CC), a dynamic all-rounder adding balance to the side. Chelsea Sonter and Ayaka Stafford from Queensland’s Western Suburbs District, bringing depth to the bowling unit. South Australia sees representation through Indira Panelli (Kensington District CC) and Aijay Willoughby (West Torrens District CC), highlighting the spread of talent across the states.
The squad reflects the progress of grassroots and state-level women’s cricket in Australia. Several of these players have impressed in club cricket and development programs, making the Sri Lanka tour their first step into international exposure.
With the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup on the horizon, this tour acts as both a testing ground and a talent showcase. The matches will provide a crucial environment for youngsters to understand the rigours of international travel, climate adjustment, and coping with the pressures of representing Australia on foreign soil.
Australia will be eager to make a strong statement against a rising Sri Lankan women’s pathway system, which has produced promising talents over recent years. This contest not only promises competitive cricket but also a showcase of future stars who may soon graduate into senior internationals.
