The Australian Under-19 Women’s cricket team is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka during September 2025 for a six match bilateral series, comprising five T20 Internationals and one Youth One Day International (Youth ODI). All games are set to be slated at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota, with the first T20 on 19 September.

Australia and Sri Lanka U19 Women have previously met on two distinct occasions, both during the tri‑nation T20 series held in Australia in late March and April 2024 and again in September 2024. During the ODI tournament of the Sri Lanka Tri-Nation Women’s Under-19s, Australia emerged as winners in the first match against Sri Lanka women and continued their streak by winning against England women; however, Sri Lanka fought back and won the third contest against England women.
In 2024, Sri Lanka hosted Australia and England women for the U19 T20 Tri-Series. England emerged as winners defeating the hosts by 6 wickets. England remained as table toppers winning 3 matches, while the host remained second with an even number of wins and losses; Australia squad stood at the bottom of the standings with registering only 1 win across the series.
However, Australia women won all the four matches of the U19 T20 Tri-Series 2024, in September while Sri Lanka women won two out of four, while New Zealand Development Women stood at the bottom winning none. In total, the two teams have met thrice in tri‑series contexts, with Australia managing a lead in those head‑to‑head matches between them.
Looking further forward, Bangladesh and Nepal have been confirmed as co‑hosts for the 2027 tournament, continuing the ICC’s trend of spreading U19 women’s cricket opportunities across developing cricketing nations. These World Cups represent the pinnacle for players currently involved in junior squads like those touring Sri Lanka this September and the Hambantota series should serve as a critical preparatory platform ahead of the global showpiece in early 2025.
