Germany’s Squad for Women’s T20 World Cup Europe Division 1 Qualifier Announced, Asmita Kohli to Lead

The initial phase of the 2025 Women’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier, Division Two, was held in Italy in May 2025. Six teams competed for a spot in the next round, with the top two advancing to Division One. Germany delivered an impressive showing, winning four out of their five matches and finishing second in the standings. This strong performance secured their place in Division One, set to take place in the Netherlands in August 2025.

Germany’s women’s cricket team has officially secured their spot in the ICC Women’s Division 1 Qualifiers, marking a major milestone after eight years and four World Cup cycles. This achievement represents their biggest challenge yet as they prepare to face strong opponents, including the Netherlands, Italy, and Ireland, who currently hold the world rank of ninth, in the Women’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier, Division One.

Following the qualifiers, the team will continue their campaign by participating in the Nordic Cup 2025. The qualifiers are scheduled to take place in Rotterdam from August 18 to 28, with the Nordic Cup following in Copenhagen from August 29 to September 1.

National coach Alistair Waldron expressed excitement over Germany’s promotion to Division One alongside Italy, highlighting the team’s strong performance in Rome. Waldron stressed the importance of staying focused on their own development and processes, with a continued emphasis on learning and improvement.

At the same time, Waldron acknowledged the difficulty of facing teams like Ireland, the Netherlands, and Italy. The head coach stated that playing against such strong opponents is exactly the kind of challenge the team is seeking, as it allows them to develop their cricket and push themselves further.
