Southern Brave’s seasoned top-order batter, Danielle Wyatt-Hodge, has etched her name in the history books as only the second cricketer to breach the 1,000-run mark in the Women’s Hundred. She got to the landmark in the 2nd set of the run chase against the Northern Superchargers on 13th August 2025 at the Rose Bowl, Southampton. The set was bowled by Kate Cross. She got to the landmark with a half-forward press into the vacant point region.

The 34-year-old England international has joined an elite club created only days ago by Nat Sciver-Brunt of Trent Rockets, who became the tournament’s first to cross the landmark during her innings of 64 against Birmingham Phoenix on 8 August 2025. For Wyatt-Hodge, the milestone is a fitting tribute to her consistency, impact, and longevity since the competition’s inaugural season in 2021.
Since making her Women’s Hundred debut on 24 July 2021 against Trent Rockets at Nottingham, Wyatt-Hodge has been the heartbeat of Southern Brave’s batting order. Across 37 innings, she has amassed 1,024 runs at an impressive strike rate of 135.44 and an average of 31.03, a testament to her aggressive strokeplay and match-winning pedigree. Her tally includes nine half-centuries, each underscoring her role as both opener and momentum-setter for the side.
Her most defining knock came early in the competition’s history, on 30 July 2021 at Southampton, she played an unbeaten gem of 69* off 40 balls against Birmingham Phoenix. That innings, studded with 5 fours and 4 sixes at a blistering strike rate of 172.50, not only powered Southern Brave to victory but also earned her the Player of the Match award. It remains a blueprint of her fearless intent, the kind that has repeatedly put opposition bowlers under the pump.
Now into the 5th edition of the tournament, Wyatt-Hodge continues to be central to Southern Brave’s ambitions. In the side’s 2025 opener against Manchester Originals on 6 August, she made 32 off 27 balls. She followed that up with an impressive half-century, 59 (39 balls) in the Brave’s 2nd game of the season against Birmingham Phoenix at the Rose Bowl, Southampton, on 10th August 2025, giving signs that she’s in the kind of fluent touch that could see her notch up many more such landmarks in the coming matches.
The narrative of the season has already begun taking shape. With Sciver-Brunt raising the bar last week, the cricketing fraternity’s keen eyes will now be watching out for the next member to join the club. Danielle Wyatt-Hodge not just crosses a statistical threshold; she cements her place among the most prolific and consistent batters in Hundred history.
For Southern Brave supporters, the milestone is more than numbers; it’s about celebrating a batter who has been there since ball one of their Hundred journey, delivering with style, power, and unwavering commitment. And for the Women’s Hundred itself, it’s another reminder that the tournament’s icons are steadily carving a legacy worthy of the global stage.
