Jemma Barsby, a well-regarded name in Australian domestic cricket, became a part of the Adelaide Strikers in WBBL 07 after impressive spells with the Brisbane Heat and Perth Scorchers. As captain of the South Australian Women’s team and a two-time WBBL champion with the Strikers, she made an immediate mark in her debut season in blue, recording the second-best bowling economy in the squad. Her wealth of experience and strong leadership continue to be key assets to the team.

The 29-year-old ambidextrous all-rounder, known for her ability to bowl finger spin with both arms, also contributes valuable depth with the bat. This season, she bolsters an already formidable Strikers’ spin unit that includes world-class English spinner Sophie Ecclestone and talented leg-spinners Amanda-Jade Wellington and Anesu Mushangwe.

The spinning all-rounder has featured in 134 WBBL matches, picking up 92 wickets with an impressive economy rate of just under 7. Her standout bowling performance in the league remains an exceptional 4/2. A reliable contributor with the bat as well, Barsby showcased her form in the 2024–25 WNCL season, scoring three consecutive half-centuries in her last three outings for South Australia.

The ambidextrous all-rounder, after re-signing with the Strikers, stated, “It’s an absolute privilege to continue my journey with the Adelaide Strikers. Winning two championships with this group has been incredibly special, and I’m excited to see what we can achieve together in the upcoming season. I love the team culture, and I’m eager to get back out there with the girls.”

He highlighted her impact both on the field and as a leader off it, noting her ability to control the game with the ball and the wealth of experience she brings to the team. Williams said the club is thrilled to have Barsby continue playing a key role in the Strikers’ ongoing success.

Barsby is set to strengthen the Adelaide Strikers’ squad as they aim for success in the upcoming summer competition and look to recapture the championship-winning form of Seasons 8 and 9.
