After being awarded one of Australia’s highest honors, The Medal of the Order of Australia earlier this year former international cricketer, Melanie Jones has now been appointed as the director of Cricket Australia. This is historic as Jones will be Cricket Australia’s first female director.

The announcement happened early on Wednesday and social media was quick to react to it – Twitter was filled with congratulatory messages for Mel Jones and everyone applauded Cricket Australia’s decision.
