Match 4: Birmingham Bears Women vs Durham Women

Opting to bat first at Birmingham, the Bears Women set a formidable total of 193/6 in their 20 overs. The run total was steered by 18-year-old Davina Perrin, who scored a blazing 87 off 61, opening the batting. The other highlight of Bears’ bagging innings came off the powerful Australian striker, who blasted 55 off 21. Her 17-ball fifty ranks 3rd fastest in England’s T20 cricket history. Suzie Bates picked up 2 wickets for Durham Women, while Trudy Johnson and Katie Levick picked up a wicket each.

In reply, Durham Women had a disastrous start, losing 3/15 inside 4 overs, including their key batters Kathryn Bryce and Mady Villiers. Despite the early setbacks, Durham Women’s hopes rested heavily on Suzie Bates, who scored a valiant 65 off 41 balls. She found reliable support in Bess Heath, who contributed 45 off 28 balls. However, after Hannah Baker dismissed Bates, Durham’s tailenders crumbled under pressure, losing 4 wickets for just 20 runs and eventually being bowled out for 151. Georgia Davis picked up 3 wickets to dismantle the batting line up, while Issy Wong and Charis Pavely shared 2 wickets each among themselves.

Warwickshire bowlers complemented the batting effort by effectively restricting Durham’s chase, leading to a comprehensive win by 42 runs. Laura Harris secured her player of the match for her effective contribution.

Match 5: Lancashire Women vs The Blaze Women

At Old Trafford, Lancashire Women posted a competitive score of 169/4. Opening batters, Tilly Kesteven’s steady 24 off 23 and Katie Mack’s smashing 59 off 37 helped post an 83-run partnership. However, Georgia Elwiss along with Cassidy McCarthy took wickets at a crucial point. The middle-order, however, managed to capitalize more runs, anchored by Seren Smale’s steady 24 off 23 and Fi Morris’ 27* off 22. Grace Ballinger and Sarah Glenn also shared single wickets among themselves.

The Blaze openers Marie Kelly and Georgia Elwiss led the charge to chase down the total. All-rounder Georgia Elwiss led the chase with a brisk half-century, scoring 53 off 43, supported by Marie Kelly’s 40 off 31. Despite Mahika Gaur picking up 2 wickets for Lancashire Women, The Blaze Women chased down the target efficiently, reaching 170/3 in 19.1 overs with Kathryn Bryce’s unbeaten 49 off 29 which led them to a commanding seven-wicket victory.
