In a thrilling clash between Sri Lanka Women and South Africa Women in a tri-series competition hosted by Sri Lanka it was a mouthwatering contest between both these nations. After having lost their initial game respectively against India Women it was now time to gain momentum, build and hold-on to the series run ahead.

With captain of South Africa Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits not really troubling the scorers much it was an early break-through for Sri Lanka Women getting the wicket of Brits in the fourth over itself. Wicketkeeper batter Karabo Meso tried staying onto the field for a while but couldn’t really get going. It was then the Southpaw from Johannesburg Lara Goodall alongside Sune Luus that stitched a decent partnership going further into the game.
It was the debutant Dewmi Vihanga standing rock solid, picking up crucial wickets and turning the game into Sri Lanka’s favour. Picking up the wicket of Sune Luus and breaking that partnership was crucial for Sri Lanka Women.
The moment of the game turned out to be in the 40th over when Nilakshi D’Silva took a stunning catch against a team that is known to have the best of the fielders across the world.
Chloe Tyron came down the pitch, got right to the pitch of the ball and then lofted it cleanly through the line, was soaring away over the ropes until Nilakshi intercepted, ran to her left, dived and got both hands, held on even as she tumbled onto the ground. Tryon was in absolute disbelief and had to walk away. Sri Lanka were sloppy in the field, but they managed to pull up something special.
Nilakshi D’Silva bolstered the team’s spirits which helped Sri Lanka restrict the South Africans to only 235, with South Africa only managing to score 53 runs in the last ten.
D’Silva’s stunning catch already witnessed high praises and also might go down as one of the best boundary catches.
