Kerr had what started off as a promising year but ended up having an incredible year both at home and abroad. With her versatility, dependability, and ability to win games, Kerr boosted the White Ferns’ morale, leading them to important victories and solidifying New Zealand women’s cricket’s place on the world stage.

Amelia Kerr was rightfully named the Women’s T20 Player of the Year at the New Zealand Cricket Awards 2025 for her outstanding consistency and all-around skill in the game’s shortest format. Kerr made 18 T20I appearances last year, accumulating 387 runs at an average of 24.18, demonstrating her capacity to both accelerate when necessary and lead innings.

She was even more deadly with the ball, taking 29 wickets at an economy rate of 8.00, making her one of the White Ferns’ most dependable wicket-takers. The highlight of her year, however, had come in New Zealand’s first-ever T20 World Cup triumph, with the 24-year-old all-rounder becoming the first woman cricketer to be named the Player of the Match in the final and also the Player of the Tournament in the same edition.

She was awarded the Player of the Match in the final courtesy of her brilliant all-round show, 43 (38 balls) with the bat and returning with match figures of 4-0-24-3 with the ball in the final. She was also the leading wicket-taker of the tournament with 15 wickets at a sensational average of 7.33 and an economy of 4.85 in 6 innings with the ball for her side. She was equally rewarding with the bat, adding 135 runs at an impressive average of 27 in 6 innings with the bat for her side.

Amelia Kerr also won the Women’s ODI Player of the Year award at the New Zealand Cricket Awards 2025. Kerr played nine ODI matches in 2024, scoring 264 runs at a remarkable average of 33.00. He frequently served as the White Ferns’ middle order anchor. Throughout the year, she demonstrated a remarkable ability to form important partnerships and lead the innings under duress.

Kerr maintained her status as a game-winning all-round player with the ball, taking 14 wickets at a brilliant economy rate of 5.12. With her smooth leg-spin, she can press the brakes in the middle overs or break partnerships.

“Melie’s consistency, skill, and passion for the game are an inspiration to us all, and I couldn’t be prouder to see her name etched alongside mine once again,” said Debbie Hockley while announcing the winner.

One of the best all-around seasons in women’s cricket history will be Amelia Kerr’s 2024 campaign. Her supremacy in domestic cricket, ODIs, and T20Is highlights not just her skill but also her desire to improve and support her teams consistently. For her remarkable success across formats, both in international and domestic cricket, Kerr also claimed the Debbie Hockley Medal, the top-most honour.

Kerr’s saga is far from finished; if anything, her prime marks the start of a new period in which she will continue to motivate the next generation and represent New Zealand cricket internationally.
