The Kartini Cup, a thrilling T20I tournament set against the stunning and picturesque backdrop of Bali, Indonesia, kicked off on April 9th, bringing together three exciting teams—Indonesia, the Philippines, and the Cook Islands—for a four-match showdown.

As the teams prepare for what promises to be an action-packed tournament, cricket fans can expect fierce competition, unforgettable moments, and a true celebration of the sport.
The Kartini Cup will offer a dynamic round-robin format, with three thrilling group-stage matches will form part of the proceedings before the all-important grand finale. The tournament drew curtains with a contest between Indonesia and Cook Islands, where the hosts crushed the opposition with 8 wickets in hand and 61 balls to spare.
Following that, Indonesia will take on the Philippines in the second encounter, while the third match will see the Cook Islands bout against Philippines. After these intense group-stage clashes, the top two teams will advance to the highly anticipated final, set for Saturday, April 12th, where one will be crowned champion of the Kartini Cup.
In the fag end of December 2024, Philippines clashed with Singapore but eventually ended on the losing side by a margin of 2-1 in a 4 match T20I series. In July 2024, Indonesia emerged victorious in a T20I tri-series featuring the hosts, Singapore and Bhutan. Among the three teams featuring in the tournament, Indonesia stands at the 20th position in the ICC Women’s Team T20I Rankings, while Cook Islands and Philippines are seated at 60th and 64th position respectively.
Having started playing T20 Internationals in 2022, Indonesia Women have won 24 of their 54 matches, while losing 29 matches with a win percentage of 44.44%. The Philippines women’s T20I team has played 30 matches since 2019, securing 8 victories and suffering 20 losses, a record they are eager to improve. Despite their struggles, the team remains determined to enhance their performance and make strides in the international cricket scene.
In contrast, the Cook Islands women’s team, having started their T20I journey in 2022, has played just 12 matches, with an impressive record of 7 wins and 5 losses, boasting a win percentage of 81.81%. The Cook Islands’ rapid success is a testament to their promising future in the format.
With the blooming teams raring to launch in Bali, the Cup promises to deliver high-octane cricket action and unforgettable moments. Cricket enthusiasts can look forward to four days of intense competition, blended with cricketing camaraderie, culminating in a thrilling final on April 12th, where the best team will pose as champions.
